CS Storage provide temporary revenue share lockers to the Tower of London
In the winter of 2019/20, CS Storage provided the Tower of London with a revenue share locker storage system to be used by customers visiting their pop-up winter ice rink.
The Tower of London is a UNESCO World Heritage site in central London that attracts over 3 million visitors every year. Each Christmas, the Tower of London hosts festive displays and activities throughout December. One of the popular festive attractions that the Tower of London hosted during the winter of 2019/20 was its temporary ice rink.
The problem
The Tower of London contacted our team here at CS Storage for help providing a temporary locker storage system for customers using their ice rink.
The locker system needed to be of very high quality and provide customers with a safe and secure place to lock away their personal belongings whilst they were skating.
Installing the lockers in place was going to be logistically complex as there was no simple way of getting a locker system of the size and type required into the skating rink.
The solution
Our team provided the Tower of London with a high-quality revenue share locker system similar to the Tempest locker systems. This type of locker requires customers to pay a small amount to use the locker, providing the venue with additional revenue. The Tower of London could set the rates that the customer paid to use the lockers and payments could be conveniently made by card.
The locker solution was compromised of about 50 compartments, each large enough for those skating to store coats and bags as well as smaller personal belongings.
Getting the lockers into the area where the temporary ice rink had been installed was challenging. The Tower of London is a UNESCO site and accessibility for large bulky locker systems was not good! Ever resourceful, our team went through some very careful and precise planning to get the lockers carefully lifted over the walls and placed in position using a crane.
The results
The lockers were successfully installed by our team of highly skilled installers, where they remained for about three months. The Tower of London was able to generate some additional revenue from the lockers and their customers’ personal belongings were safe and secure whilst they used the ice skating rink. Once the lockers were no longer required, our team arranged for their safe collection again.
